What is the best way to teach your parrot to talk?
Sheliza asked:
Hi! I have a quaker parrot, and I feel like it’s taking him a while to learn how to talk. He’s about 2 years old, and says quite a bit, though nothing all too clearly.
I was just wondering if anyone had any bird training tips for teaching quaker parrots how to talk.

Please and Thanx! <3

if you want him to talk, talk to him regularly
you could even leave a movie/song/recording playing next to his cage to encourage him to talk
You just have to persist, keep talking quietly to him, when your not there use a tape recording of your voice.Plenty of patience is required.
He will learn from you if you keep saying words over and over.My Quaker is seven years old says over 100.0 words clearly. But everytime i pick him up i talk to him.Repeat words to him show him lots of love.He wants to do things to please me.
One of the reasons why we love Parrots is that they have the ability to talk. Talking is all about communication, in order to communicate with your Parrot you must tell them what you are doing. So, when you are feeding them make sure that you say “Feeding Time”. The key here is to always let them hear what you are doing. Also, remember that the process is gradual, do not expect them to learn a sentence in one sitting. You can start with words, then phrases and so on.
At the Beginning don’t expect him to talk in words that contain
many syllables.
The training should consist in one syllable words, two at
the most. Designate one person in your house to teach him words, he’ll get confused if everyone is talking at him.
Also have the little guy learn one word at a time. You’ll want to
repeat the word over and over for him, every time you see him.
A Tape recorded with the word repeated through out the day is another option. Remember to wait until he learns the word before moving on to another.
PS
The Quaker Parrot enjoys listening to being told that he’s a “Good Bird” or that he’s a “pretty baaaby” Just make sure you make wonderfully cooing sounds
